Peabodys

Who Served

in the

Civil War

-Mathew Brady

Note to Readers: During my many years of research, I have come across many men and boys named Peabody who served in the American Civil War, some as young as 16 and some who died of starvation in captivity. The vast majority of these are numbered, as am I, among the descendants of John Peabody, who arrived in Plymouth Colony in 1635 or 1636. Perhaps they are relatives of yours also. Peabodys fought in both Union and Confederate uniforms. If you find errors or are aware of other Peabodys who fought in this war, please notify me and I will correct or add to the record. I would also like to add more photos of Peabody Civil War soldiersas they become available. Scanned images may be sent as attachments to emails directed to me at misterpeabody@comcast.net. -Velton Peabody
